Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Martina Henry collects when you use this website, book a treatment or session, request a reading, place an order in the online shop, or get in touch — and how that information is used, stored and protected.

I take your privacy seriously. Your information is only ever used to deliver the services you’ve asked for, to meet legal obligations, and to communicate with you about things you have opted in to.

Who I am

Martina Henry is a private home studio in Colchester, Essex, offering three connected services: beauty treatments (facials, waxing, lashes, brows and nails), spiritual readings (delivered as private PDFs or recorded videos), and reiki and energy healing (in-person and distance work) — alongside a small online shop of self-care and ritual products.

For any privacy-related questions, data requests, or to exercise your rights under UK GDPR, please contact me.

The personal information I collect

Personal information is any information from which you can be identified. Anonymous or aggregated data is not covered by this policy.

What I collect

  • Your name
  • Email address
  • Postal address (for shipping shop orders)
  • Contact number (for booking confirmations, reminders, and to reach you about deliveries)
  • Payment details — handled directly by the payment processor (Stripe or PayPal); I do not see or store full bank or card details
  • Appointment or booking details (date, time, service requested)
  • Health-related notes you choose to share before a beauty or healing session (e.g. allergies, skin conditions, contraindications)
  • Reading questions or context you choose to share before a spiritual reading
  • Order history and preferences from the online shop
  • The reading PDFs or video files Martina prepares for you (stored against your account so you can return to them whenever you need to)
  • Messages and correspondence you send me
  • Technical data: IP address, browser type, device, pages visited (collected automatically — see Cookies below)

How your information is collected

Directly from you

  • When you book an appointment or session (in the studio or online)
  • When you place an order in the online shop
  • When you create an account for shop or reading purchases
  • When you subscribe to the email newsletter
  • When you ask to be notified that a sold-out product is back in stock
  • When you fill in a contact form or email me directly
  • When you share health or reading-context information ahead of a session

Automatically

When you visit the website, some technical information is collected automatically through cookies and similar technologies — see the Cookies section below.

How I use your information

  • To take and confirm your bookings, send appointment reminders, and prepare for your session
  • To process and ship your shop orders
  • To prepare your reading and deliver it privately to your account
  • To respond to messages and contact-form enquiries
  • To send you the email newsletter (only if you have opted in — you can unsubscribe at any time)
  • To notify you when a product is back in stock (only if you have requested this — every notification email includes a one-click unsubscribe link)
  • To meet my legal and accounting obligations
  • To keep the website secure and improve how it works

Reading deliverables and your private account

If you purchase a recorded reading or other digital deliverable, the file is uploaded to a private area of your customer account on this site. Only you, while signed in, can view or stream the file. Files are not publicly indexed, are not downloadable in the standard sense, and are not shared with anyone else.

You can request deletion of your account and any associated reading deliverables at any time by contacting me.

Who I share information with

Your information is never sold. It is only ever shared with the small number of trusted services that make this website and business work:

  • Stripe and PayPal — payment processing; they receive only what is needed to complete the transaction
  • Royal Mail and other shipping carriers — to deliver shop orders
  • The hosting provider for this website — for storage and delivery of pages and files
  • WordPress and WooCommerce — the software that runs the site (no information leaves the site through them)
  • HMRC and other regulatory authorities — only where legally required (e.g. tax records)

Newsletter and back-in-stock subscriptions

If you subscribe to the email newsletter, your email address (and the page you subscribed from) is stored securely on this site. You can unsubscribe at any time by replying to any newsletter or by contacting me directly. Your email is not shared with any third party.

If you ask to be notified when a sold-out product is back in stock, your email is stored against that product. Every back-in-stock email includes a one-click unsubscribe link that removes you from notifications for that product immediately.

Cookies

This website uses cookies — small text files stored on your device — for essential functions (logging in, keeping items in your cart, remembering your cookie preferences) and, with your consent, for anonymised analytics that help me understand which pages people find useful.

You can review and change your cookie preferences at any time using the cookie banner at the bottom of any page, or in the Cookies Policy.

How long I keep your information

  • Order and accounting records — kept for 6 years, as required by HMRC
  • Customer accounts and reading deliverables — kept while your account is active; deleted on request
  • Newsletter subscribers — kept until you unsubscribe
  • Back-in-stock subscriptions — automatically removed shortly after the notification has been sent (or sooner if you unsubscribe)
  • Contact-form messages — kept for as long as needed to respond, then archived or deleted
  • Website technical logs — kept for a short period for security and troubleshooting

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Ask to see what information I hold about you
  • Ask me to correct anything that is wrong
  • Ask me to delete your information (where I am not legally required to keep it, e.g. for tax)
  • Ask me to limit how your information is used
  • Ask me to send your information to another service in a portable format
  • Object to certain types of processing — particularly direct marketing
  • Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting any processing that took place before

To exercise any of these rights, please get in touch. I will respond within one calendar month.

If you feel I have not handled your information properly, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated from time to time as the website or services evolve. The “Last updated” date above will always reflect the most recent version. Substantial changes affecting how your information is used will be communicated where I have a way to reach you (e.g. by email if you have an account).
